Is a split king size right for me?
A split king mattress is the same size as a colchón tamaño king, although it is split into two twin size mattresses.
Split king mattresses are not great options for smaller bedrooms. A 12 x 12 foot bedroom or larger is recommended to allow a comfortable amount of space.

A split king size mattress, in total, is 80” long and 76” wide. However, it is composed of two individual twin XL sized mattresses, each of which is 80” long and 38” wide.
Because a split king mattress is made of two separate colchones dobles XL, the two mattresses need to be secured, or else they may drift apart. The best way to do so is to use a bed frame that is designed to function with a split king mattress. We recommend using a split king adjustable base, like the Purple Premium Smart Base, which is designed to keep the individual twin XL mattresses together.
You can use a king size comforter or two twin XL comforters on your split king mattress. It depends on your preferences (and those of your partner). When using separate twin XL bedding, both partners will be able to choose a duvet that fits their needs. For example, one sleeper might like a lighter comforter and the other might want a warm, heavy one.
A split king bed requires different bedding than a standard king. For your adjustable mattress, you’ll need to buy two twin XL fitted sheets.
DO NOT use a standard king fitted sheet with a split king mattress on an adjustable base. Although a king fitted sheet will fit a split king mattress, it will prevent your bed from moving with the adjustable frame. This could damage your adjustable bed frame.
For your split king flat sheets, you can opt for one large king size flat sheet or two twin xl flat sheets. Both will fit your mattress, so your choice depends on your and your partner’s sleep styles.
